Zwift are launching two new updates to the Companion app that will drop on the 2nd July and 15th July respectively.  These are:

  1. Enhanced fitness trends
  2. Updates to the configurable heads-up display

Fitness Trends

According to Zwift “Fitness Trends will allow Zwifters to dive deeper into their fitness tracking information over time. Clicking through from the Goal and Fitness Tracking tiles on the Zwift Companion home screen will take Zwifters to a series of charts, tracking their training goals, Zwift Streak, historical training status, and their historical training score. All charts can be filtered by time, allowing Zwifters to better understand their training history at a simple glance.”

Configurable Head Up Display

Launching several weeks later, will be enhancements to the Head Up Display (HUD). Zwift note that “Along with much-requested fields like average speed and average watts, Zwifters will now have access to more advanced metrics. For those with dual power meters, Left/Right power balance can now be displayed in real time. Heat training is increasingly becoming a field of interest amongst top riders and Zwift has partnered with CORE Body Temp to also bring CORE Temperature and CORE HSI (Heat Strain Index) to the Configurable HUD. The CORE Thermal Sensor can be paired with a heart rate strap within the CORE app to connect as a wearable in Zwift.”

A full list of new custom HUD elements can be found below:

  • Average Speed: How fast you’re cycling, on average.
  • Average Watts/kg: Your power-to-weight punch.
  • CORE Temp: Your body heat – too hot, and performance dips.
  • CORE HSI: Heat Strain Index – how hard your body is working to cool itself.
  • L/R Balance: Pedal symmetry – max output, zero waste.
  • Splits: push yourself each lap.

Summing up

With the upcoming updates to the Zwift Companion app, users can look forward to enhanced fitness tracking and a more customizable heads-up display, empowering them to optimize their training and performance this summer. These features not only provide deeper insights into fitness trends but also introduce advanced metrics that cater to the evolving needs of cyclists.
