Zwift have announced that the Zwift Ride will now come with the new Wahoo KICKR Core 2 and for some, there will be a price decrease. Here is Zwift’s press release:
“Today, Wahoo launches the Wahoo KICKR CORE 2, bringing a number of key improvements, including WiFi connectivity, heart rate bridging capability via KICKR Bridge, and an improved setup experience. Each of these changes brings key benefits to the Zwift Ride customer.
Zwift Ride has always aimed to make getting set up on Zwift as easy as possible. With the improved setup experience delivered by the Wahoo KICKR CORE 2, with its colour-coded leg assembly, your first ride in Watopia is closer than ever before. Further, with WiFi provisioning, Zwift Ride customers will get a better connection and a significantly more advanced ride experience, including the ability to manage all firmware updates through Zwift Companion, further simplifying the experience. Zwift Companion unlocks the full Zwift potential, making it easy to find clubs, friends, events and also track your fitness progression.
Another connectivity improvement brought by the Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 is new KICKR Race Mode, which delivers near instantaneous power response, giving you more control over your Zwift avatar.
Lastly, the Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 brings KICKR Bridge, allowing Zwifters to bridge their heart rate monitor via the trainer, improving the connection experience for Apple TV users. Simply connect your heart rate monitor to the trainer via KICKR Bridge and to connect both to free up space for other accessories, including the Zwift Ride game controllers.
In welcome news, the newly updated Zwift Ride Smart Bike now costs less. The complete setup reduces by £100 and €100 in the UK and EU, bringing the cost down to £1099.99 and €1199,99 respectively. In the US, the cost of shipping has been reduced from $110 to $75.
All the key benefits of Zwift Ride remain, bringing the ultimate always-ready Zwift experience for riders between 5ft (152cm) to 6ft 6 inches (198 cm).“
