The 2025 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships showcased the remarkable dominance of Jason Osborne, who secured his third world champion title, solidifying his status as the most successful Esports cyclist in history. Alongside him, Kate McCarthy’s repeat victory in the women’s event highlighted her competitive spirit and talent present in this evolving sport.

The event
The 2025 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships took place on 15th November, once again in front of a live audience in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Hosting this fifth edition of the event was MyWhoosh and, like the previous year, Germany’s Jason Osborne dominated the men’s event, leading from start to finish and in turn became the three-times world champion, beating Michal Kaminski from Poland and Lennert Teugels from Belgium.
In the women’s race, New Zealand’s Kate McCarthy also claimed victory like she had the previous year, once again beating Brazil’s Gabriella Guerra, with Italy’s Francesca Tommasi taking the final spot on the podium.
The event was streamed live on YouTube and can be watched by clicking here.
Race format
The UCI Cycling Esports World Championships consisted of three stages which saw 21 men and 22 women battle it out over different terrain, with the rider with the highest points accumulated throughout the stage being crowned the overall winner. The different stages were called “The Mountain’s Verdict,” “Punchers’ Playground,” and “The Sprinter’s Paradise.”
Dominance
To put Jason Osborne’s dominance into perspective, in the two other editions of the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships that he did not win, he finished second and third respectively, making him the most successful Esports cyclist in the sport’s history by some margin. It could be stated that he is the “Tadej Pogačar” of Esports cycling. The great Tadej Pogačar was in house to watch the event along with former World Road Champion, Peter Sagan.
Having recently interviewed Jason Osborne, the result came as no surprise and further justifies why he decided to focus his efforts in the Esports arena.
