One of the great features of Zwift is the ability to undertake structured training. Zwift offer a range of different sessions that can be accessed on demand. The Zwift Community also offer structured training sessions that provide riders with the opportunity to tackle these sessions as a group.
Starting on 20th October and running until 3rd November, Zwift will be showcasing a range of these structured training sessions, with the Mountain Massif training featuring on Friday, October 31st.
There are 14 different clubs being featured, and the workout will run at its regular time and additionally be published 7 other times, once every 3 hours, for a full day.
The events will have unique branding, so look out for them in the calendar.
Mountain Massif structured training event
The Mountain Massif structured training session that will be hosted is called “Power Climbs.”
This workout will help improve your ability to make explosive efforts which will help when attacking, closing small gaps and maintaining contact on the smaller climbs when the w/kg increases.
It is 40 minutes in duration, with lots of variety to keep you out of the saddle. It has been designed to be challenging, but not too difficult that you won’t be able to complete it.
The session will consist of the following:
Warmup:
- 5-minute warmup (gradual increase)
- 8-minute steady state
Interval Set x 5:
- 10 seconds @ 150% FTP
- 1.50 minutes @ 90% FTP
Interval Set x 4:
- 45 seconds @ 115% FTP
- 2.15 minutes @ 65 – 80% FTP (increasing after each interval)
Interval Set x 1:
- 30 seconds @ 130% FTP
Cool down:
- 5-minute warm down
