Elite have launched a new smart trainer called “Rivo” at Eurobike in Frankfurt, the world’s leading cycling trade fair.

The press release reads:

“Rivo brings everything you need to train in a compact, accessible format: instant use, accurate data, and full connectivity.

The name Rivo comes from the Venetian dialect and means “to reach a destination” – a clear reference to its purpose: helping athletes move, step by step, toward their goals.

A smart approach to indoor cycling Rivo is the perfect trainer for riders new to indoor cycling who still want a rich feature set: it estimates power with ±2.5% accuracy and automatically adjusts resistance up to an 18% gradient. It connects to all major cycling apps via Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi.

Rivo fits easily into any space: a slim design, just 10 kg, and an integrated handle make it easy to move and store. The compact structure minimizes bulk, while its ultra-quiet operation makes every workout smoother, more immersive, and more focused. It’s compatible with all 9–12-speed bikes.

Connectivity is top-tier, with built-in Wi-Fi for stable data transmission and automatic firmware updates, and dual Bluetooth® channels to connect multiple devices at once. With bridge mode for Bluetooth® heart rate and cadence sensors, all your data stays in sync. And for offline use, two stand-alone modes let you ride even without power or apps.”

Zwift ready

As you can imagine, Elite are also offering a version that comes with the Zwift Cog installed so you can literally use this product out of the box (if you use Zwift or Rouvy) as they offer a Zwift Ready model, with Zwift Cog and Zwift Click pre-installed.

As Elite notes “the Zwift Cog, compatible with most 8–12-speed drivetrains, replaces the traditional cassette, making it easier to swap between bikes. The Zwift Click, which attaches to any handlebar, lets you shift through 24 virtual gears and control resistance in a simple, intuitive way.

Users of the standard version of Rivo can upgrade at any time: just remove the cassette and install the Zwift Cog and Click pack, available directly from Zwift.”

Costs and weight

Priced at under €500, this is a lot of product for your money and moreover, it doesn’t weigh a lot at 10kg, which is ideal if you race and want to take a smart trainer to warmup on, this will be a lot easier to put into the back of your car than other, heavier models.

It also includes 12 months of free access to My E-Training, Elite’s app for customizing and tracking your sessions.

The Rivo with Zwift Cog and Click is slightly more expensive priced at €519 / £499.99.

Summing up

The launch of the Rivo smart trainer by Elite at Eurobike, that weighs only 10kg, feels like a significant advancement in indoor cycling.  Elite are offering a compact, user-friendly design with impressive connectivity and accuracy at an affordable price and more importantly, easily transportable.  This certainly is a case of “less is more.” For more information, visit Rivo: Interactive trainers – Elite
