Next to a cycle helmet, the one essential item when cycling, is a bottle because keeping hydrated is key to maintaining performance.
The problem with bottles are that they are difficult to clean. If used in a dishwasher, the high temperatures in the cleaning process can lead to them being deformed and when washed by hand, you can never be confident it is as clean as it can be, especially when sugary supplements are used in your bottle.
To address this challenge, Elite have developed a product called the “Neto.” It is a steam sterilizer for plastic bottles that kills 99.9% of bacteria and mould, using water vapour.
About the Neto
As noted, the Neto is a bottle sterilizer that has been designed to sanitize the different parts of your water bottle by steaming, through the use of a microwave oven.
A silicone ring on the sanitizing cup that comes with Neto, allows bottles of different sizes to be inserted and sterilized. The product comes with a small grid that you insert into the sanitizing cup where you place the different components of the bottle, such as the valve and cap, allowing them to be sterilized at the same time.
In terms of size, it is 96mm in diameter and 139mm in height.
According to Elite “the inclined shape makes for an easy use of the Neto with standard 550 ml and 750 ml bottles in almost all microwave ovens on the market.”
How it works
It is a simply process that involves the following:
- Fill Neto with plain water up to the level limit.
- Using the support grid, place each part of the bottle, such as the lid, on to it.
- Insert the sanitizing cup and your bottle.
- Place in the microwave for 1 minute (for a 700 watt microwave).
- Remove from the microwave and allow to cool.
Summing up
This product is innovative and uses the power of water vapour to sanitize the bottle without the need to use any chemical additives. This hygiene product is an essential for every cyclist, ensuring their bottles are free from contamination.
