In May, Zwift once again will be supporting Giant’s ‘Ride Like King’ event.

Several years ago, I had the fortune to ride with An Le, Giant’s Group Global Marketing Director on Zwift, to talk about the event.  An explained “‘Ride Like King’ started in 2009 as a small event within the Giant Group, to celebrate Giant’s founder, King Liu’s passion for cycling”.

In fact, King Liu, the founder of Giant Bicycles, finished a 15-day, 927-kilometer cycle across Taiwan in 2007 at the age of 73. This led to a revitalised interest in riding and its advantages for the person, the community, and the nation. King then went across the world and spoke with governments to advocate for the advantages of riding a bicycle. An said that “it inspired his own employees to express their passion for cycling.” This evolved into Ride Like King which started in 2009.

That is the origins of the event and is now in its 16th year.  Like the previous years, Zwift are supporting by offering warm-up rides that will take place across road and gravel from May 13–16. The ‘Ride Like King’ events will take place from May 17–19, and you’ll unlock the exclusive Ride Like King 16 kit.
