Indoor cycling’s two big brands, Zwift and Wahoo, have teamed up and are launching a new trainer called the Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One.
Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One is not so much a new trainer, but a combination of Wahoo’s KICKR Core and the Zwift Cog, but as Zwift notes “The Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One delivers near-universal compatibility with 8- to 12-speed bikes, thanks to the pre-installed Zwift Cog and Virtual Shifting via the included Zwift Click.”
Lowering the barrier of entry
The combination of the Wahoo KICKR CORE and the Zwift Cog, lowers the barrier of entry to the world of Esports cycling, so this can only be viewed as a positive.
The Wahoo KICKR CORE is an affordable trainer, when coupled with the Zwift Cog, allows for bikes with different sized cassettes to be seamlessly interchanged with the smart trainer.
Purchasing the Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One means when it arrives, you simply unbox it, connect your bike and pedal in the immersive world of Zwift, which is a possibility because included in the price is a one year Zwift membership. It couldn’t be simpler.
How is this possible?
This is all possible due to the Zwift Cog, which replaces the traditional cassette on the smart trainer and is universally compatible with almost any 8-12-speed bike. It works via virtual shifting, using the Zwift Click, a button that controls the Zwift Cog or Zwift Play controller. There are 24 gears to choose from and works by adjusting the trainer resistance.
Cost and increased availability
The Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One is now available to buy in the United States, United Kingdom, and the European Union for $599/£549/€599, including one year of Zwift membership, on Zwift and wahoofitness.com.
From March, customers located in Australia and Canada will be able to access Zwift’s innovative virtual shifting and will be able to purchase the Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One via wahoofitness.com.
